Anoushka Shankar
Anoushka Shankar, a British American musician and sitarist is best known for her music. She was awarded the British House of Commons' Shield as the youngest, and also the first female recipient. In addition to the nine Grammy awards and nine Grammy nominations, she also became the first musician of Indian origin to present at and perform during the ceremony live. Anoushka Shakar, a young rising star on the Indian Sitar, is Anoushka. She is both the student and daughter of Ravi Shankar. Born in London and grew up in New Delhi, she spent the first few years of her life moving between London as well as New Delhi. The first time she performed was on stage in New Delhi when she was just 13 years old. In the following years she moved to Encinitas CA she attended high school, graduating with distinction in 1999. Anouskha continues to have a bright career in recording and performing even though she's only a teenager. She is often seen performing alongside her father and has done so for many years. In 1998, she debuted her first single album Anourag. In 2002, she released her Grammy Nominated Live at Carnegie Hall. The stage work she has done is vast as she has been in every one of the major stages in the world. Anoushka isn't just a performer. Bapi The love of my life is a illustrated biographical work that she composed in 2002. It is a tribute to her father who died in the year 2000. Ravi Shankar. in 2003 she was a part in Dance Like a Man as the Bharat Natyam performer. Anoushka Shankar is currently a rising star and her career is expected to continue growing. Anoushka was a frequent traveler and spent lots of time between London and Delhi in her early years. Then, she relocated to California to finish high school. She started learning to play the guitar at the age nine and was a sitar player to commemorate the 75th anniversary of her father's birth in Delhi the following year. Anoushka's father toured around across the world with her and she also gained a variety of experiences. When she was still in her teens, Anoushka performed at Carnegie Hall at Peter Gabriel's WOMAD music festival. Her talent and musicality was recognized by British Parliament as being among the top in Asian Arts.
